Death Angel

On exile from the realm of 3rd heaven, Lycus the seventh reincarnation of heaven’s chief angel of death, and the one prophesied to restore the perfect balance between life and death throughout the universe, walks the world of men until the day of his redemption which can only be decreed by God. While under the tutelage of Nicodemus, perhaps the most powerful of all death angels, Lycus proves to be as formidable as has been foretold. He excels in all levels of the dark study including: hand to hand combat, weapons combat, disease and pestilence, war, famine, along with the study of the psychological make-up of humankind and the technique of manipulation which has been used in lives of men since the shaping of the world, as well as natural disaster. Through his natural abilities he rises to a height of knowledge never before seen by the celestial order of Death Angels. Soon he is accompanying Nicodemus on several missions to deliver God’s final judgment to those listed on the holy parchment and sealed with the name of the eternal father. Now a journeyman, Lycus is as efficient an angel of death as there ever has been. He has ushered the spirits of missionaries to the gates of heaven and kings to the roads of hell. And as with all Death Angels he grows strong with the alleviation of each soul. Fast becoming the greatest student of the dark arts to ever grace the storied halls of 3rd heaven Lycus soon becomes the object of jealousy and envy amongst the ranks of not only the angels of death but within the orders of the other heavenly host: the guardian cherubim and the warlike seraphim. Both orders have been at odds with the order of Death Angel since the establishment of creation. Opposition begins to mount as beings from all orders, in their jealousy, plot to remove Lycus from the memory of all the orders of angels. The moment they (the conspirators) have been waiting on arrives. On his last mission of judgment before ascending the final ranks of The Holy retainer, Lycus is given his final three judgments before he would be presented the Lance (sickel) of Typhus and the charms of the sons of Adam (3 human skull charms of three of the most significant human beings in history including the progenitor of humanity itself Adam). He delivers the first two judgments with such precision and swiftness to make all wonder and humble themselves to the idea of angelic prophecy spoken of for generations among the angelic beings. His first charge is an aged and ousted king who through all travesty in his life had remained faithful to God but in his walk had grown weary and desired his life no more; his was to be the full reward of heaven; he would tire no more. Lycus delivered The Most High God’s decree with boldness and honor respectfully taken the soul of a man so revered upon the earth. Lycus appeared to him in a daydream and took him silently as breathe escaped his lungs without even a whisper. The heir apparent’s second charge was a crazed serial murder whose lust for blood could only be described as beast-like. Lycus took pleasure in this soul’s intercession plucking it from him while in the midst of a blood feast. Lycus delivered the soul of this demon to Lucifer himself in the unbreakable chains of the first bondsmen. But it was the third and final mark that would topple the ranks of angels forever. Only able to feel the lure of death prior to a mark, Death Angels have no knowledge of their victim until the waxen seal is broken (which is a predetermined and occurs at a specific point in time: anytime too soon or too late could mean disrupting the delicate balance of life and death on the planet). But an act of God (a seismic event) causes the seal to be broken before the designated time and place allowing Lycus the vision of the mark prior to the death decree and what he sees he cannot explain. As with all angels of death he has witnessed the death of all humanity with no remorse or attachment which are said to not exist in the make up of any angel as they are born and breed only to execute the will of heaven but this life is different. In the eyes of this infant child he witnesses the extent of the possibility of all human kind. He sees, through heavenly vision, a soul so pure as to cause all of creation to bow in reverence. So when the time arose for him to claim the life and deliver it to heaven he could not and therefore stayed the judgment of heaven on the child. Having disobeyed the unceasing will of heaven he is marked as a fallen angel in accordance to the law. Therefore he becomes a mark for both heaven and the minions of hell who seek the amulet of the sons of Adam that they may wield death in their hand and finally subjugate Man. Now an outlaw to the celestial world of heaven and its angels Lycus walks the earth watching over the one child that stayed his sickle and always on the look out for his brethren and his enemy, the hosts of fallen angels. Unbeknownst to all even Lycus himself, as well as his mentor and benefactor Nicodemus, the fall of Lycos is preordained by the Most High God to bring to past the things of heaven of which only The Creator is aware. The child is the last pure soul sent into earth to redeem mankind and to return humanity to its rightful place amongst the heavens. So until that time that the ultimate will of heaven is fulfilled Lycus, who seeks for himself the answers of existence, is transformed from an angel of death into the most powerful guardian angel to ever exist. Final resolution happens as time begins to run out for humanity and a final war between heaven and hell is brewing. The child’s spirit is fast reaching maturity and must be positioned to bring forth light into the world. This occurs as Lycos’ angelic powers begin to wane as he begins to lose his divine powers and become more human and death now begins to stalks him. As all seems lost Lycos makes the final decision to give his immortal life for the life of a mortal which looses the yolk from around the neck of humanity and because of his sacrifice the messiah is delivered to the world at the precise time ordained by The Creator thus settling the delicate balance between life and death through out the entire universe.
